An Estimation of Variance Components in Linear Mixed Model
نویسندگان
چکیده
In this paper, a linear mixed model which has two random effects is broken up into two models. This thesis gets the parameter estimation of the original model and an estimation’s statistical qualities based on these two models. Then many important properties are given by comparing this estimation with other general estimations. At the same time, this paper proves the analysis of variance estimate (ANOVAE) about σ of the original model is equal to the least-squares estimation (LSE) about σ of these two models. Finally, it also proves that this estimation is better than ANOVAE under Stein function and special condition in some degree. Keywords—Linear mixed model, Random effects, Parameter estimation, Stein function.

An Application of Linear Model in Small Area Estimationof Orange production in Fars province
Methods for small area estimation have been received great attention in recent years due to growing demand for reliable small area estimation that are needed in development planings, allocation of government funds and marking business decisions. The key question in small area estimation is how to obtain reliable estimations when sample size is small. When only a few observations(or even no o...
متن کاملBayesian Inference for Spatial Beta Generalized Linear Mixed Models
In some applications, the response variable assumes values in the unit interval. The standard linear regression model is not appropriate for modelling this type of data because the normality assumption is not met. Alternatively, the beta regression model has been introduced to analyze such observations. A beta distribution represents a flexible density family on (0, 1) interval that covers symm...
متن کاملEstimation of genetic parameters for body weight traits in Baluchi sheep
Genetic parameters for birth weight (BW), weaning weight (WW), 6 months weight (6MW), 9 months weight (9MW) and yearling weight (YW) in Baluchi sheep were estimated using data collected during a 26-year period (1984-2010). Estimates of (co)variance components were obtained by REML procedures by fitting a linear mixed animal model. Significant random effects for each trait were explored by fitti...
متن کاملEstimation in Generalized Linear Models with Heterogeneous Random Effects
The penalized quasi-likelihood (PQL) approach is the most common estimation procedure for the generalized linear mixed model (GLMM). However, it has been noticed that the PQL tends to underestimate variance components as well as regression coefficients in the previous literature. In this paper, we numerically show that the biases of the variance components are systematically related to the bias...
متن کاملEstimation of Variance Components for Body Weight of Moghani Sheep Using B-Spline Random Regression Models
The aim of the present study was the estimation of (co) variance components and genetic parameters for body weight of Moghani sheep, using random regression models based on B-Splines functions. The data set included 9165 body weight records from 60 to 360 days of age from 2811 Moghani sheep, collected between 1994 to 2013 from Jafar-Abad Animal Research and Breeding Institute, Ardabil province,...
